Oklahoma Lawmakers Approve Psilocybin Decriminalization And Research Bill In Committee

Oklahoma lawmakers on Wednesday approved a bill in committee to decriminalize low-level possession of psilocybin to promote research. To streamline studies, the measure would explicitly authorize research institutes to obtain psilocybin and use it for investigations into treatment efficacy for 10 different conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), severe depression and opioid use disorder.

In many states, bills have been advanced or are under consideration to legalize research into the benefits of mushrooms. We continue to advocate for consideration of the whole mushroom in these bills, in addition to psilocybin, since mushrooms contain hundreds of compounds that may off additional benefits.
